I know it’s not the point, but the only thing I like better than a good book list, is when I can point and say, I read that! 😉 I know, I know, ego. I’ve read a few on the list and a few I found intriguing. – I have to agree with your premise. If it isn’t coming out, then it is time to take in. Thanks for the share.

Well, first, a friend of mine was walking through a bookstore and wanted a collectors edition of Invisible Cities, Italo Calvino. I said that I hadn’t read it, but looked it up, and thought it sounded great. She said, I have two copies because she was doing a photo project on it, and then sent me her extra. That was this week! Cool, right? And it’s on the list. Will be reading that as soon as it arrives.
The rest I think are pretty common which most people have read, or heard of, which is why the list was intriguing to me, because there are so many titles I had not heard of, and looked pretty neat.
I have read, Blue Beard by Vonnegut, but I’ve read all his books, so, my opinion is that I like Vonnegut. 😉 Not his best, but a great read never the less. Please don’t ask me to remember though. That was years ago, as are the rest. Some books stick with us, and we read them a few times. Some we read too young, and need to read them when we are older, and find out that there was so much we didn’t understand. I should say , at least I didn’t understand. At 16-20- What the heck could I know? I spent the last few weeks rereading Salinger, for example, after the public television doc on something called American Masters. Lot of stuff I didn’t catch as I was so young when I first read the guy.
Others-
Girl w/ a Pearl Earring. Great book. Read that when the movie came out.
Ulysses- I wouldn’t read it again. I do like Joyce. He was, uhmmm, quite the guy. Among other things, wrote some interesting ‘love’ letters.
The Picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wilde. Another common one, but great! It’s Oscar! This is one I need to read again, as I was saying.
Gravities Rainbow. This is the classic book by the author. Another one I should reread.
The Unbearable Lightness of Being- Milan Kundera- I know you read that. I can see it. 😉
Thanks!! Great information! Its been quite I while since I read The Picture of Dorian Gray. It may be time to reread. I have not read Blue Beard though I have others by Vonnegut. May have to try that one. You are right that some are read too young and need to be reread at an older age. I think I have some rereading to do!!
